Telegram Bot

The Telegram Bot lets you control RTILA X from your phone. Instead of sitting at your computer to run automations, check status, or download results, you simply open Telegram on your phone and send a command. It’s like having a remote control for your web automation.

The bot can:

  • List your projects and run them
  • Check the status of running automations
  • View execution logs from your phone
  • Download results (scraped data) directly to your phone
  • Send notifications when runs start and complete
  • Chat with the AI Assistant via Telegram

The Telegram Bot is a bridge between your phone and RTILA X. It runs inside RTILA X and communicates with Telegram’s servers. When you send a command to the bot on Telegram, RTILA X processes it and sends back the result.

Capability Description
Run projects Start any automation project from your phone
Check status See which projects are currently running
View logs Read execution logs from your phone
Download results Download scraped data files to your phone
Notifications Get notified when runs start, complete, or fail
AI Assistant Chat with the AI Assistant directly from Telegram

Setting up the Telegram Bot takes about 5 minutes:

  1. Create a bot via Telegram’s @BotFather.
  2. Get your bot token.
  3. Find your Chat ID.
  4. Enter the token and Chat ID in RTILA X.
  5. Enable the bot.

Let’s walk through each step.

@BotFather is Telegram’s official bot for creating and managing other bots. You’ll use it to create your RTILA bot.

  1. Open Telegram on your phone or computer.
  2. Search for @BotFather (it has a blue verification badge).
  3. Click Start or type /start.
  4. Type /newbot.
  5. BotFather asks for a name for your bot. This is the display name users see. For example: My RTILA Bot.
  6. BotFather asks for a username for your bot. This must end in bot. For example: my_rtila_bot or MyRtilaBot.
  7. BotFather creates your bot and gives you an HTTP API Token.

The token looks like this:

7123456789:AAH1b2C3d4E5f6G7h8I9j0K1l2M3n4O5p6Q

Important: Keep this token secret. Anyone with the token can control your bot. Don’t share it publicly.

Your Chat ID is a unique number that identifies your Telegram account. The bot needs this to know where to send responses and notifications.

The easiest way is to let RTILA X detect it automatically:

  1. Start a conversation with your new bot on Telegram (search for its username and click Start).
  2. Send any message to the bot (e.g., /start).
  3. In RTILA X, a prompt appears asking you to authorize this user.
  4. Click Approve.
  5. Your Chat ID is automatically added to the authorized list.

If you prefer to find your Chat ID manually:

  1. Search for @userinfobot on Telegram.
  2. Click Start.
  3. The bot replies with your Chat ID (a number like 123456789).
  1. Click your profile name in the bottom-left sidebar.
  2. Click Preferences.
  3. Go to the General tab.
  4. Scroll to the Telegram Bot section.
  5. Toggle Enable Telegram Bot to On.
  6. Paste your Telegram Bot Token in the token field.
  7. Enter your Authorized Chat IDs (comma-separated). For example: 123456789 or 123456789, 987654321.
  8. Optionally enable:
    • Send Notifications to Telegram — Get notifications when runs start and complete.
    • Enable AI Assistant via Telegram — Chat with the AI from Telegram.
  9. Click Test Connection to verify your setup.
  10. Save your settings.

  4. Click Clear Logs to clear the log history.

Bot logs show events like:

  • Bot started/stopped
  • Commands received from Telegram
  • Project runs triggered via Telegram
  • Errors encountered

The Telegram Bot only responds to authorized Chat IDs. This means:

  • Only users whose Chat IDs are in the authorized list can use the bot.
  • Anyone else who messages the bot gets no response.
  • You can authorize multiple users by entering their Chat IDs separated by commas.

When an unauthorized user messages your bot:

  1. RTILA X detects the message.
  2. A prompt appears in RTILA X: “User [Name] (@username) is trying to use your bot. Chat ID: 123456789. Do you want to authorize this user?”
  3. You can click Approve to add them to the authorized list, or Deny to reject them.
Practice Why It Matters
Only authorize trusted users Anyone authorized can run your automations and access your data
Keep your bot token secret The token controls the bot. If compromised, regenerate it via @BotFather.
Review authorized users regularly Remove users who no longer need access
Don’t share the bot username publicly Prevents random people from finding and messaging your bot
Use notifications Notifications tell you when runs are triggered, so you can detect unauthorized use

When Send Notifications to Telegram is enabled, RTILA X sends notifications to your authorized Telegram chats:

Event Notification
Project run starts “Project ‘Amazon Product Scraper’ has started.”
Project run completes “Project ‘Amazon Product Scraper’ completed successfully.”
Project run fails “Project ‘Amazon Product Scraper’ failed.”
Trigger chain run starts “Trigger chain ‘Data Pipeline’ has started.”
Trigger chain completes “Trigger chain ‘Data Pipeline’ completed successfully.”

Notifications are sent to all authorized Chat IDs.

When Enable AI Assistant via Telegram is enabled, you can chat with the AI Assistant directly from Telegram. Any message that isn’t a recognized command is sent to the AI Assistant.

You: Scrape all product names and prices from https://example.com/products
